Getting cultured, now & later
NYC are getting better and better with it's food & culture festivals, first it was the KoreanTown foodfest, now with a recent JapanTown Festival ~ it would be hard not thinking about hitting the free way and commute to NYC everyday ~ It's not that I don't stick around Beantown for fun, just that I find Boston to be either too proper or too hippy-ish/save the earth/go organic/go greenish or too college kids gone wild, there are no gray area for the rest of us just wanting to have some good clean fun without getting educated on our global warming. ~ Catch me?! anyhow enough complaint, READ ON for a shockingly good news/adventure!
Drum Roll Please ------ Next year May, a pack of four (mom, aunt, uncle & me) will set off from LA for a 2 month adventure vacation, (mom&I fly from east coast to meet up in west coast ~ need to look for cheap bos to LA airfare). Okay more like a pampered trip than adventure travel, no jungles or weird stuff involved.
As usual, first we will fly from LA to Japan for a week stay ~ following my uncle's guided tour ~ this time I'm getting a kimono for sure! then we will fly from Japan to ShangHai ~ following my mom's guide & me, the official unofficial translator (for my uncle).
~ we will set off on the southern part (ShangHai, ChengDu & beyond), then travel up to the Northern tip: Beijing, Harbin and Inner Mongolia. ~ Beijing is kind of too familiar for us, but my uncle says if he doesn't see the great-wall he will not rest for the rest of his life (now that's pretty heavy) so we decided to include Beijing for a day stop, (ahhh i'm afraid of heights, I hope they don't make me climb the damn wall again?! last time I was on all fours ~ so embarrassing), Harbin in May it's mostly just sightseeing & shopping (I could skip this), BUT I'm so excited about Inner Mongolia, big open field, tons of sheep to eat (sorry sheep) and sleep in a cute yurt, heehee, it's like camping in fantasy land, would be nice to live like this forever! ~Le sigh.
Finally, we will end our trip in both QingDao & RiZhao (my Grandma's hometown) two neighboring cities both are filled with her side of family & friends, wasn't on our itinerary at first, but she already send pressure for us (mainly for me) to visit both cities WITH HER! I'm kind of afraid, I fear she will turn this sightseeing opportunity into a matchmaking opportunity ~ a few days ago she phoned my mom about her recent trip back home & her family members/friends all thought I'm beautiful & all wanted to see me next time ... ahhhh! that's usually a sign of someone knows someone who thinks someone could be a good match for me ... ahhhhhhhhh *crying for help!* not good, not good! ~ must think of something!
So with mixed emotions I'm excitingly expecting a grand trip next May!
